- In 1974, Ron and Carmen Lovsey
founded Modern Paper Co. primarily selling paper for Electrostatic
copy machines. In 1983, they hired Shawn Stearns to service their
new line of Mita brand copiers. As Modern Paper started to expand,
Shawn created the sales, service and parts departments with the
addition of several new employees which now boasts a total of 11
employees. In 1997 Ron and Carmen decided to retire and leave the
daily operation to Shawn. Since then, they have changed the name
to Modern Copier, Inc.and have added several manufacturers’
equipment lines. They are very proud of the Kyocera copier and
printer line which has the lowest cost per copy in the industry.
Today Modern Copier Inc is still locally owned by Shawn, Ron, and
Carmen.
- Many changes have been
made since 1974. They purchased the IL operations of Data
Business and MC Electronics, a local cash register company. Along
with the cash registers, Modern Copier began selling office
furniture which truly made them the one stop shop for businesses.
Shawn’s daughter Emily Stearns has headed up the furniture
division and has been very successful.
- Celebrating 34 years
in business, the staff and management at Modern Copier, Inc. are
proud to serve the Southern Illinois business community. While
looking back in history, they take immense pride in the fact that
hundreds of customers who were with them in the early years are
still customers today. It is these relationships that they
believe help define a company as a market leader, and they are
grateful for the continued support. They hope to celebrate their
next 34 years by continuing to provide the products, value and
service that Southern Illinois needs.
